|THE GATE OF AHMET THE FIRST
Massive procession of fires ad slaughters and deaths and massacres
Out of such a night you summon me
You say enough of this wreck and ravage and enmity let them end
at the gate of Ahmet the First never to rear their heads again
Let us no longer know assassination
Take one step and an expanse opens before us so wide as to never diminish
Fires offer no solution hostilities set nothing right
Look how far I am from you yet nothing is different
Our awakening one morning ruins nothing improves nothing
Only love plucks me away only love carries me to places I never knew
We trudged long and here we came to a stop.

Nota: Gate of Ahmet the First: one of the entrances to the Sultan's
Palace in Istanbul, named after a 17th-century sultan whose peace
treaty with Austria put an end to Ottoman expansion westward; the
Ottoman Court called itself the Sublime Gate (Topkapi).
